The annual GST return and reconciliation statement are due soon. Here's what to check before you submit.
GSTR-9 is the annual return. GSTR-9C is the reconciliation statement and audit (only if turnover exceeds Rs 5 crore).
Common mistakes we see: mismatch between GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B, missing HSN summary, unclaimed input credit that got time-barred, and incorrect tax liability on advances.
If you file late, you pay late fees (Rs 100 per day under each Act, capped), plus interest on any tax short-paid. More importantly, a delayed or mismatched annual return increases your chances of a department notice.
We reconcile GSTR-2B/2A with the purchase register, validate HSN codes, and file only after the client approves a preview. That preview step alone catches 90% of errors.
If your books are not yet finalised for FY 2026-26, start now. The reconciliation begins with clean books, not at the GST portal.
